Home Page A Memorial for Mary Garner  Memories

We will always remember the soft, quiet couple who entered our lives in Pass-a-Grille in 2008. Mary made her way into the community, into the Pass-a-Grille Community Church and into the hearts of all who met her. And always by her side was Larry. Her husband of 41 years, who brought softness, support and love to her every moment, was always by her side. Just to watch him look at her could break your heart.

Ashley's Wedding - April 2007

Each of us has our memories of Mary and Larry. Luckily for us their children came to help Larry care for Mary and to have their time with their mom. Although they came to share the care, they left full of community love as well as feeling closer as a family. We could all wish we have the same support when our turns come.

Thank you Mary for bringing so much into our lives and to the children for showing us what support, care and love look like. It was so thick during the last weeks that you could feel love just by taking a deep breath. We have been truly blessed by their presence.

Ashley's e.mail to everyone:

It is so reassuring and comforting to know there are so many friends and family out there praying and caring about our family right now.  Thank you to everyone!  Mom passed away early Sunday morning, September 27, 2009 at 2:05 AM.  Her battle with non-small cell lung cancer was relatively short, she was diagnosed on November 2, 2008, but she was so courageous and strong, right to the very end.  My dad, Whitney and Torsten, Mary Wesley, Winston (the dog) and I were with her, literally holding her hand when she passed away…and if you ask me we weren’t the only ones in the room…there were angels and maybe even some of her friends and family who had gone before her, there to welcome her to heaven.  Yes, it is so hard to lose someone you love but our prayers were answered when the suffering stopped and the peace began.  J

Please join all of us remembering mom and beginning the process of adjusting to life without her here with us in the manner we are used to.  As you all know she was a great friend, teacher, mom, daughter, aunt and wife and we are so happy that we were blessed by having her.  There will be several services and we would love to have you join us in person or in spirit at any of them.  I am including all of the info for the funeral home and church so you can contact them directly if you need directions/details, etc.
