Tradewinds Expansion

Tradewinds Plans Another Expansion

As you might recall, the Tradewinds Island Resorts acquired Alden Suites last March and incorporated it into the RumFish Beach Resort. This purchase allowed them to add 141 rooms to their portfolio bringing the RumFish Beach Resort room count to 353, creating a total of 899 guest rooms at TradeWinds. In addition to this purchase, the Tradewinds now plans to expand once again.

Last week, the City of St. Pete Beach sent out letters to residents informing them of a massive expansion the Tradewinds has proposed to the City.

Here is what we know so far about the proposal:

  • – Construction of 650 hotel rooms in three new hotel buildings (each 11 to 12 stories high)
  • – Three new parking garages
  • – Three new swimming pools
  • – New 22,000 sf ballroom
  • – Expansion of 33,000 sf conference facilities

This project is planned to be built in four noncontinuous phases beginning in 2023 and has an estimated completion date of 2034.
